Someone had destroyed the mine cart holding the endermite and it fell in between the stone slabs. I argued with it but it wouldn’t come out, so it has been replaced by a new endermite who was much more compliant.
The wood trapdoor at the top should be locked by a mod so this doesn’t happen again.
