Nether Hub Discussion (We still need a Nether Hub!)

#1

Hello!

I have been hearing a lot of things about our Nether Hub. Some people talk about moving it near the ceiling, some people link up their portals to Nether portal, and other ideas are all over the places.

Tytus once gave a YouTube link about Nether Portals (assumingably by accident), and I quickly became an expert(?) at syncing Nether Portals. :ugeek: Since people live and make stadiums all over the world in our server, I was thinking we can make the Nether Hub somewhere and make branches (like trees) of tunnels leading to people’s wonderful creations, ultimately making an easier way to visit one another. Not everyone will have to make a path leading to their build from the Hub, of course.

All I want (and need) to do is make a forum to gather all the wants, needs, ideas, and information about making a Nether Hub in one place.

Anybody?

Definitely talk with zq, and read his “Regions?” topic, sounds like you guys could bounce ideas off each other.

I think it’d be best to have any sort of proper transit system be above the ceiling, so that people engaging in the nether’s always-on PvP fun don’t disrupt somebody’s commute

Nether Hub Findings:

Portals in the Overworld takes its x and z coordinates, divides both values by 8, and looks for the nearest portal in the resulting coordinate in the Nether.
Similarly, portals in the Nether takes its x and z coordinates, multiplies both values by 8, and looks for the nearest portal in the resulting coordinate in the Overworld.

Using this finding, it is possible to sync up the portals in the Overworld and the Nether by making one portal each at corresponding coordinates.

Fore some reason, portals in the Overworld won’t connect to portals in the Nether that are over y=100. However, portals in the Nether that are over y=100 safely leads you back to the Overworld, making the process a one-way travel. This is the reason why the portal leading to The End had to be lowered in elevation.

When entering the portal, the game tries to keep the orientation you’re facing… but, sometimes, you end up getting turned 90 degrees upon teleportation. This is a known bug.

We will be working with Nether Portal Network in order to complete the Nether Hub!
