Arcane Cartography Project

Hey All!

One of my hobbies is cartography,and one of the things that drew my to Arcane was the dynmap (one of my fav mods for MC).

But we don’t use the markers, meaning new players have no idea where anything is on the dynmap other than spawn. I got confused my first few weeks due to this.

So, I’m making a static map of the server, using the dynmap as a background. It will have the towns and farms and other places of interest on it. I got a bunch of custom icons ready for this project. If there is interest i can make it dynamic with layers, ala Google Maps.

I got inpsired by the Nether Highaway Map that Ajady was working on (what happened to that anyways?)

Hoepfully the map will be awesome enough to use on the site! :smiley:

Map can be however people think it should include, I guess. I remember I wanted to do a server-wide vector (not bitmap (.jpg or .png)) road map, but I was getting too technical about it and never got to actually make one :stuck_out_tongue:

If I told someone new “Go to [blah de blah blah] city in the [blah le blah blah] region there is a chest full of dirt.” they’d probably find it faster on the map than if I just told them “Go to [blah de blah blah] city there is a chest full of dirt.” Wouldn’t having the (horribly) established regions on there would make them easier to find?

Also, is that art from MTG? If so [size=50]i want your babies.[/size]
